My last post was over a month ago. How did that happen? Well, I’ll tell ya. I have been busy.
First, I got a pretty big promotion at work. I am now the Director of Operations for Rosemont Market and Bakery. Most folks assume we are just a small operation with a few stores and a kitchen. What they don’t know is that we have five stores, a bakery, a kitchen, a warehouse hub, and a production butcher shop and nearly 100 employees. There is a lot going on at Rosemont! I now have a lot of new challenges. I like it.
Summer is short in Maine. It always feels like a race to pack the season with all of the warm weather activities and projects I think about all winter long. I feel guilty for wasting a few gorgeous hours surfing Facebook on the couch.
In the last month, I have been to concerts (Brian Wilson! Dixie Chicks! Hall & Oates!), traveled to visit friends, discovered and dug up rhubarb plants (more on that later), hung out with local friends, went to the beach, made jam and tried to keep the damned groundhog out of my garden. Did you know they can climb fences? That one was new to me. Apparently, my zucchini and tomato plants are enough to inspire those tubby critters to defy gravity. Jerks. I have also installed taller fences.
I have a small backlog of recipes that I have managed to test and photograph. I hope to work steadily to get them out to you.
Oh, yeah. Our sour cherries are almost ready to pick. I will add that to this weekend’s to-do list.
